N.B. Whilst the original copy was clearly written (as you would expect!), much of the text conveyed little or no useful information. The writing was not particularly compelling, and was unhelpful to the skim reader. Some information was brought forward from other pages to make the writing more concise and stronger. Relatively unimportant information such as ‘how to find your way around the site’ was deleted.

Vigorous writing is concise. A sentence should contain no unnecessary words, a paragraph no unnecessary sentences, for the same reason that a drawing should have no unnecessary lines and a machine no unnecessary parts.
